Disc Golf

River Birch Prairie 18 hole Disc Golf Course
Cassville's disc golf course is located at 451 Sale Barn Road at the South Park, south of Lee Branch and accessible using the Greenway Trail. The course is a full 18 hole, par 57 in a secluded setting. The course follows a portion of the Greenway Trail and winds in and out of a prairie grass demonstration area.
The prairie is currently under conversion and will feature native grasses, flowers and shrubs. Fairways for the disc golf course will remain fescue grass. Prairie grasses and flowers attract a diversity of wildlife including pollinators and song birds. Native plants are more tolerant to drought and extreme hot/cold temperatures. The deep root systems of prairie plants improve water infiltration and reduce the amounts of fertilizer and pesticide typically found in urban storm water runoff. If successful, the demonstration project will add character and a challenge to the disc golf course while providing trail users with a vastly more interesting landscape.
